Cop arrests cows for eating flower plants inside police station

The police inspector at a police station in Hassan district is in the dock for ‘arresting’ four Jersey cows on charges of eating the flower plants grown inside the police station compound. The video of an old woman begging the police inspector, Yogesh, to release the arrested cows has gone viral on social media.

The incident happened in Belur Police Station two days ago when the cows entered the station compound and devoured the flower plants. Agitated over this, the inspector ordered his staff to immediately arrest the ‘intruders’ and confine them inside the station. When her cows did not return home, the woman panicked and on enquiring with her neighbours, came to know that the cows have been arrested.

She went to the police inspector and pleaded with him to release them as each cow yielded ten litres of milk daily and was her only source of livelihood. The video of the old lady begging the inspector to release her cows has also been uploaded in social media.

She also promised the officer that henceforth, she would not allow them to ‘go astray.’ The act of the men in khakhi has come under severe criticism on social media. It is not known if the cops finally released the cows or not.
