Rave party busted in city, Shakti Kapoor’s son held
At least 35 people including a veteran Bollywood actor’s son have been detained by Bengaluru police after they busted a rave party in the early hours of Monday, at a popular five-star hotel near MG Road in the city.
Police sources informed that the raid was carried out based on information regarding the alleged supply of drugs at the rave party. Among the detained was Siddhant Kapoor, 37, son of Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor. The detained persons were subjected to medical tests.
The police also claimed to have seized seven ‘Ecstasy’ pills and a packet of marijuana from the venue. “Further during the inspection, the police found five grams of ganja and seven MDMA pills in a dustbin,” sources added.
Following inspection, the blood samples of the 35 people were sent for medical tests and six of them, including the sample of Kapoor, turned out positive for drugs. Five others have also been arrested for the alleged consumption of narcotics.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru East, Bheemashankar S Guled revealed that the actor has tested positive for drugs. “However, there was no way to tell for sure if they had taken drugs before attending the party or whether they had taken them at the hotel,” he said.
Several video clips of the rave party being raided by the city police have been circulating on social media. In one clip, Siddhanth Kapoor is seen playing the role of DJ at the rave party with people dancing to his music.
Another leaked clip shows police officials talking to the people after conducting a raid at the party. Meanwhile the accused have been booked under Section 22A, 22B and 27B of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On May 8, the city police had raided a weekend rave party in Jeevan Bhima Nagar police station limits and detained 33 people including the organisers for allegedly selling and consuming drugs. In 2020, Siddhant’s sister Shraddha Kapoor was questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau over alleged possession of drugs after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
