Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday slammed the BJP-led state and central governments, apart from city police for arrests of Congress leaders, including himself on Monday.

The Grand Old Party’s leaders are protesting against the summons issued to Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering case, terming it as “vendetta politics.” Shivakumar, Leader Of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramiah, among others took out a march from Lal Bagh to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Shanti Nagar, off Double Road, when they were held by the police.

“The BJP government has started a new tradition. Was that an emergency? Is this a democratic government? It is our right to protest. When I was taken by the ED authorities, thousands of people had marched from National College to Freedom Park. Why had no one objected then? They had only been expressing their pain, sadness and distress. Across the country, our leaders had been questioning the injustice being meted out,” Shivakumar said.
