Bengaluru:

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Tuesday issued precautionary measures to prevent Covid-19 infections that included mandatory masks, physical distancing and vaccinations, among other measures. The civic body issued the guidelines in light of Covid infections being recorded in two schools in the city.

“In light of two Covid-19 infections being recorded in schoolchildren in the BBMP city limits, people should not respond with fear and panic, rather they should take these precautions. These are the steps to be followed: Mandatory strict thermal screening for all students, teaching and non-teaching staff in the morning at the gate of the educational institution.

“If any student or staff member exhibits any symptoms of Covid, they should be immediately tested for Covid and isolated until the result is obtained. Everyone should strictly be wearing masks and observing physical distancing inside the premises. Ensure that sanitisers are available in key locations within the institution.

“Maintain cleanliness on the premises. Make sure that everyone on campus is vaccinated and also ensure that those who are not vaccinated arrange for them to get their doses. Take steps to make sure that all students get fully vaccinated at the earliest,” an official BBMP statement said.

The civic body also called upon citizens and parents, in particular, to follow the guidelines and take special care of the elderly in their families who are particularly vulnerable to the infection.
