Depressed over heart ailment, doctor commits suicide
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old doctor working in Victoria Hospital in the city died after falling from the 11th floor of his residential apartment near Amruthahalli police station limits on Wednesday.
The deceased, Pruthvikanth Reddy (in pic), was a native of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. He got married three months ago and the couple moved to Godrej apartments here. According to sources, his wife is also a doctor in the city.
While the exact cause of the doctor’s death is not yet known, police investigations revealed that he was allegedly suffering from cardiovascular disease (CVD). It is speculated that the doctor might have committed suicide due to the depression.
Speaking to News Trail, the jurisdictional police said that the incident took place around 5 am on Wednesday. On being alerted, the police rushed to the spot and initiated an inspection. Later on the same day, the police found that Dr Reddy had sent a message to his friends and relatives in Telugu but deleted it before allegedly committing suicide, police said.
In the message, the doctor wrote that he is suffering from a heart ailment and does not want to become a burden on his wife.“She can have a better life after my death. My relatives have supported me on every stage of my life,” the message read. Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-East, Anoop A Shetty, said that police are probing the case with all possible angles.
“The police have procured the mobile phone of the deceased and are investigating the cause of his death,” he said. The cops obtained the CCTV footage of the incident and statements from the wife of the deceased. The police shifted the body to Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem while initiating an investigation to ascertain the cause of death
