"I'm getting threatening calls" says panicked, penitent Saleem
A day after he was expelled from the Congress, a penitent KPCC Media Coordinator M.A. Saleem tendered an unconditional apology to KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar over the conversation between him and Congress colleague V.S. Ugrappa in which he openly discussed the KPCC chief's alleged financial dealings which had ended up giving the Congress party a bad name.
Neither Saleem nor Ugrappa were aware their microphones were switched on and that they could be heard by the audience at the Congress office in Bengaluru.
Saleem said, “my conversation with Ugrappa was not related to Shivakumar but to Ayanur Umesh, the BMTC bus conductor cum driver and a former private secretary of B.S. Yediyurappa whose house was raided by the IT department recently. But, it is being projected that I passed comments on the KPCC chief. I am extremely sorry for whatever has happened. If I hold a prestigious post in the KPCC it is only due to the support and blessings of Shivakumar."
Of more interest is what he said thereafter. "Ever since this audio went viral, I am getting threatening calls. I am concerned about the safety of my family”, he said.
Saleem attempted to placate the powers that be by acknowledging that it was the Congress that had given him everything including making him a member of the State Tourism Corporation and giving him a post in the KPCC.
"I will remain loyal to the Congress till my last breath. I have been expelled from the party for six years without being given an opportunity to defend myself. I am confident that Shivakumar will pardon me and take me back into the party fold", he added.
