Former MLC and senior Congress leader, M.R. Sitaram on Friday announced that he will take a ‘historic decision’ after holding meetings with his supporters after Ashada Maasa. Sitaram convened a meeting of his followers and well-wishers in the wake of the ‘injustice’ meted out him in the Congress Party here on Friday.
A few party office-bearers, loyal workers and others appealed to him not to quit the party asserting that state leaders will respond to his woes. The meeting also expressed dissatisfaction over the removal of Raksha Ramaiah unceremoniously from the post of President of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress(KPYC).
Addressing the convention, Sitaram said the Congress is a good party but those at the helm of affairs are not good enough. He said he had been serving the party since 1984 but had been meted out injustice four times.
In the wake of this, he plans to have a discussion with his followers and well-wishers and would take a suitable political decision by holding another convention in Bengaluru. Sitaram also said injustice has been done to his son Raksha Ramaiah.
The nomination papers of the candidate who contested against his son were rejected but those in top posts in the KPCC exerted pressure for acceptance of the nomination papers. Despite this, Raksha won the Youth Congress election but was asked after one year to step down to make the defeated candidate Youth Congress President. His son remained without a post for six months.
After the media reported on his unhappiness over not getting the ticket for the Council seat, Raksha was made general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress like a gift was being awarded to him, Sitaram quipped.
