Without mincing words, BJP MLC A.H. Vishwanath urged the State government to take action against State BJP Vice-President B.Y. Vijayendra and Higher Education Minister Dr C.N. Ashwath Narayan, whose names were making rounds in multi-crore Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Scam.
He told News Trail on Saturday that let the accused be a politician or a common man or a big person, the government must initiate stern action. "Be it Vijayendra or Dr Ashwath Narayan, I am not bothered. I will only urge Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai to direct the investigating agency to take action against the duo if they have evidence to prove their involvement in the PSI job scam," Vishwanath said.
The MLC said injustice had been done to several genuine candidates, who had passed PSI written examination through hard work. Only a few incompetent candidates tried to make entry into the police department illegally.
Unfortunately, several police officers up to the rank of ADGP were said to be involved in this job scam. Even the names of Vijayendra, son of former CM, B.S.Yediyurappa and Higher Education Minister Dr.Ashwath Narayana were heard in the scam.
The CID must enquire them to get more information about the scam. Vishwanath bemoaned that all three parties, Congress, BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) were ready to restore the original powers to Lokayuktha since they were scared of the anti-corruption body. After the high Court of Karnataka cracked the whip, an IAS and an IPS officers were arrested and sent to jail.
The declaration by a judge of Karnataka High Court that he would bell the cat has reposed faith of the citizens on judiciary. "I will like to openly congratulate the judge on behalf of 6.5 crore people of Karnataka". The BJP MLC said the Lokayukta helped Leader of Opposition in the State legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah in the BJP government headed by Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa.
Siddaramaiah walked from Bengaluru to Ballari against illegal mining in that district by Reddy brothers for long time. But after Siddaramaiah became the CM he locked the Lokayukta. Since then all three political parties have failed to restore the original powers to Lokayuktha as they were afraid of the anticorruption body.
Vishwanath said the entire system was controlled by bureaucracy and politicians. Need of the hour was to make Lokayukta powerful by giving it all powers which enjoyed for many years in order to send a strong message to the corrupt officials and politicians.
The BJP manifesto spoke of bringing back Lokayukta with more powers but it failed to fulfill the promise once it came to power. The people want this anti-corruption body to become active with more powers to end the demon called corruption in the State
