The police have arrested a person who had allegedly issued threats to IAS officer Munish Moudgil, after he had transferred his official driver. It was found that Munish Moudgil, Commissioner for Survey, Settlement & Land Records (SSLR), Karnataka, had recently transferred his driver Anand to Kolar citing administrative reasons.
Following this, the official claimed to have received a threat call on the night of July 1, by a person who introduced himself as the Personal Secretary to K Gopalaiah, Karnataka Minister of Excise. In a complaint to the police, Moudgil had stated that the caller yelled at him over the phone for transferring Anand and threatened him to cancel the orders immediately.
Before filing a complaint with the police, Moudgil checked with Gopalaiah’s Personal Secretary Ramegowda, who denied any information regarding the call. Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East, Dr Anoop Shetty said that based on the complaint, the police tracked the caller who was identified as Govindaraju, a relative of Anand.
