In a shocking incident, the police found a dead body of a young man near Konasandra underbridge of NICE Road in Kengeri police station limits on Sunday. The accused had crushed the head of the body so that he would not be easily identified. However, the identification was made possible by a tattoo mark on the person’s arm. The deceased was later identified as Hemanth Kumar alias Dilip, 26, a resident of Gollahalli in the city.
Detailed investigations and statements taken from the local residents found that Kumar earned his livelihood by fixing vehicle number plates. Police told News Trail that Kumar had left his house on Saturday around 2 pm in order to celebrate his birthday with his friends. His elder sister dropped him near his friend’s house on her scooter. But when he did not return home even after 10 pm, his family began to worry, police said.
“In their statement, the family claimed that Kumar’s phone was active until 10 pm,” police said. The police speculated that the accused might have killed him around 10:30 pm and threw his body near the underbridge, after crushing his head. “The accused might be knowing the family well,” added a police officer. A case has been taken up and investigations are underway to nab the accused.
