Engineer’s murder: Three detained in Jigani

The Jigani police investigating the murder of a Kerala- based engineer in Bengaluru, detained three people in connection with the case. They have been identified as Puttaraju, Gopi and Sreenivas, all residents of Jigani. The police said that the three detained were involved in several robbery cases. Investigations are still underway to ascertain if the persons were involved in the murder, the police added.

Sanu Thompson, a native of Rajapuram in Kasargod of Kerala, was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants on July 14 near Jigani while he was on the way to his PG accommodation around 10:30 pm. Sanu had been working as a mechanical engineer at a private firm in Jigani for the last ten years.

Sources from the family of the deceased asserted that Sanu had no enmity with anyone in Bengaluru. The family had further alleged lapses on the side of police in the probe. Recently they had filed a complaint to the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister V Muraleedharan regarding the incident, sources said.
