A person was arrested by Kamakshipalya police for allegedly killing his younger brother over a property dispute in the city. Satish Kumar, 37, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed and pushed his brother Vinay Kumar, 31, from the first floor of their building on Tuesday, police said. Preliminary police investigation revealed that the accused had taken various loans and was debt-ridden.

Desperate to clear the loans, the accused often fought with his parents, demanding his share of their property. It was revealed that the four-storey building in Kaveripura was owned by the parents. Satish, a private firm employee, was staying with his wife on the first floor. The second son, Vinay stayed with the parents and often slept on the fourth floor of the building, sources said.

On Tuesday, after dropping his wife off at work around 9:30 am, Satish came back to his house. Meanwhile, Vinay descended to the ground floor for a bath and went back to his room around 12:15 pm. "A woman in the neighbourhood stated that around 1:15 pm, she heard someone calling her name and as she looked up, Vinay fell down on the ground from the building," police said.

The woman, thinking Vinay might have fallen after losing his balance, brought water for him and called his mother. Seeing blood stains all over his body, they shifted him to a nearby hospital. However, Vinay was declared "brought dead" at the hospital.

Further, the parents checked Vinay's room and found blood stains on the walls and floor. It was soon found that their elder son Satish had stabbed Vinay and pushed him off the building. The parents filed a complaint against Satish based on which, the cops arrested him within a few hours.

Speaking to News Trail, the police said that Vinay was recently engaged and was about to get married next month. Fearing that he may not get a maximum share in the property after Vinay's marriage, the accused allegedly killed him, police said.
