Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Thursday alleged that the police gave a clean chit to BJP leader and former minister K S Eshwarappa in connection with the suicide of contractor Santosh Patil owing to political pressure. It even alleged that the police did n o t i n t e r r o g a t e Eshwarappa. Addressing a media conference, AAP State Secretary B T Naganna said the BJP government has sent the wrong message by favouring a tainted minister.

“It is evident that the state government has strongly influenced the police investigation to save its minister. Even when the incident happened, BJP stood by Eshwarappa and declared him to be innocent even before the probe began,” Naganna said. “The police have confirmed that Eshwarappa had sent a death threat to Santosh Patil over WhatsApp,” the AAP leader said and demanded that a judicial enquiry be conducted as the current enquiry was done ‘for the sake of it’.

“Under Eshwarappa’s leadership, there was rampant corruption in the State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department,” Naganna alleged.
