Bounce kick-starts EV scooter bookings
NT Correspondent
Scooter rental startup Bounce has now entered the fast growing electric scooter market. The Bengaluru-based company has launched Infinity E1 scooters.
The electric scooter has been priced Rs 68,999, inclusive of battery and charger, while it will cost Rs 36,000 without the battery. Customers can pre-book this smart scooter by paying a minimal amount of Rs 499, which is totally refundable. Test rides will begin later this month and deliveries will be in March next year.
This is the first scooter in India that provides dual options of an optional battery and ‘battery as a service’ that allows customers to opt for a vehicle without a battery. Inclusive of a batteryas-a-service subscription, the scooter will be priced at Rs 45,099.
This has enabled Bounce to price the scooter very competitively against rivals such as the Bajaj Chetak Electric, TVS iQube as well as Ather 450X.
Bounce Infinity sources power from a two kilowatthour lithium-ion battery which provides a range of 85 km in a single charge. The e-scooter can reach a top speed of 65 km per hour.
Bounce had recently acquired 22Motors’ production facility located in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. It has the capacity to produce close to 180,000 scooters per annum. It also plans to set up a plant in south India.
Bounce CEO Vivekananda Hallekere said, “I strongly believe in the potential of electric vehicles in India – it is with this vision that we launched our in-house EV mobility solutions in June 2019. Today, we are building on our success, and to facilitate faster adoption of EVs, Bounce has taken a step ahead to develop the Infinity E1. We are committed to taking on all challenges to make India a leading EV adopter globally.”
