Four people, including a couple, have been arrested for robbing a 32-year-old woman of gold and cash worth over Rs 2.2 lakh. The victim, a divorcee, was robbed on July 20, after being lured to go on a date. The accused have been identified as Mangala, 30, her husband, Ravi Kumar, 35, residing at Chikkagollarahatti off Magadi Main Road, and their associates Shiva Kumar and Srinivas, both in their late 20s and hailing from Kunigal.

According to the police, a common friend introduced the victim to Mangala in May. Mangala promised her that she would introduce her to men from decent families. “Mangala visited the victim’s home a couple of times. She must have noticed that the victim is rich and then hatched a conspiracy to rob her,” said the police.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that the accused blackmailed her and said that if she resisted, they would upload a video of her on social media. “First, they robbed me of my gold chain and earring. Later they withdrew Rs 40,000 from my ATM card. They also transferred Rs 84, 000 online from my mobile phone,” the woman stated in her complaint. Police said the victim works in a private company.
