Man held for smuggling gold at KIA

Customs officers from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru nabbed a person for allegedly smuggling gold worth Rs 90 lakh from Phuket, Thailand.

Acting on the information obtained from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), the officials tracked the accused and interrogated him. The officers recovered 18 pieces of gold biscuits which the accused had concealed inside his clothes and undergarments, sources from the airport police said.

 It was revealed that the accused had landed in Delhi on an international flight and then switched to a domestic one to reach Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, the police are interrogating him to ascertain his contacts in the city
