A race seems to have developed between Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah and KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar over holding rallies and functions to prove who’s supreme.
After the stupendous success of Siddaramaiah’s birthday bash in Davangere in which lakhs of people participated, now ShivaKumar wants to hold a Tiranga Yatra in Bengaluru as per the directions of All India Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi, in a memorable way by ensuring the attendance of around one lakh people next week.
To make this a reality, Shivakumar and Bengaluru Rural MP D.K.Suresh are trying their best to organise party workers. Already, Shivakumar has held several rounds of meetings with the district presidents of the party in and around Bengaluru to make them participate in the yatra which is planned from Jayanagar till Freedom Park and will pass through all main roads of the city.
The Congress leaders of Bengaluru City along with Shivakumar are holding meetings in different parts of the city asking every member to participate in next week’s yatra to convey to people the great role played by the Congress party in the freedom struggle. This yatra will be led by Shivakumar and will have the participation of Siddaramaiah and other state leaders
Shivakumar reportedly wants the Tiranga Yatra to be a counter to the birth[1]day bash of Siddaramaiah. Knowing the organisational skills of the ‘Kanakapura Bande’, the AICC supremo has entrusted him the responsibility of making the yatra a big success. The high command has seen how he held the Mekedatu padayatra from Kanakapura to Bengaluru a few months ago that gave a fresh impetus to the Congress Party.
Already, the youth Congress has been instructed to galvanise the maximum number of youth from the city as well as neighbouring districts. It is learnt that a huge number of tirangas have been stocked in the party office to be distributed among karyakartas on the day of the yatra. All BBMP election ticket aspirants have reportedly been asked to join the yatra along with their supporters.
Each district unit has been asked to do a padayatra of 75 km in its jurisdiction to coincide with the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. After the Davangere event, Shivakumar has made up his mind to make the Bengaluru Tiranga Yatra the most successful event in the state capital
