J D(S) legislature party chief Kumaraswamy on Sunday labelled as “height of pettiness” for the State government’s omission of Jawaharlal Nehru in the Independence Day print advertisement published in various dailies on Sunday.

He made the comments after a JD(S) booth-level programme in Dasarhalli Assembly constituency.

“There are sufficient contributions made by Nehru to the independence struggle.

He had been the first prime minister. However, he seems to have been deliberately ignored.

Regardless of which party he belongs to, his and his family’s contribution to the freedom movement is immense.

For such a figure to be dropped from the advertisement is petty politics,” Kumaraswamy said.

He also slammed vandals for destroying the poster of Tipu Sultan near Corporation Circle, adding that it may lead to a communal conflagration.

He added that both Congress and BJP were playing politics over the national flag.
