Youth dies while taking selfie at Chunchi Falls

In a tragic accident, a 26-year-old man died when he slipped and fell into the Chunchi Falls in Ramanagara district, while taking a selfie.

Police officials said the victim has been identified as Praveen Chandra, 26, a resident of Shankara Mutt in Bengaluru and employed in a private company.

The incident took place when he came to Chunchi Falls with his friends on Sunday. The police said the youth went to click a selfie at a dangerous spot. The body was found on Monday.

A case has been registered at Sathanur police station. A post-mortem was conducted at the Kanakapura Government Hospital on Monday, the police said.

 “We are still awaiting the results. This is not the first selfie disaster in the area, and there have been many examples of people losing their lives due to selfie obsession. However, this has not stopped people from taking selfies and walking in dangerous areas near the fall,” said a police official of Sathanur police station.
