In a  shocking incident, an identified  dead body of a man  was found inside an underground water tank of  the MS Building in Bengaluru.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when a fire man opened the sump for a routine inspection. He immediately alerted the Vidhana Soudha police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Bengaluru (Central) Srinivas Gowda along with a police team rushed to the spot and carried out the inspection.

According to the police, the age of the deceased is estimated to be between 30 and 35. It is suspected that the person was murdered and then the body was dumped into the tank.

“A case has been registered regarding the incident at Vidhana Soudha police station and we are trying to ascertain his identity. It is not confirmed whether it was an accident, murder or a suicide. Nothing can be said until the investigation is complete,” DCP Srinivas Gowda told News Trail.

Due to the long weekend due to Independence Day, the offices in the MS Building remained closed. The police suspect the incident might have taken place during the holidays.

The police and the fire personnel drained out water from the sump and recovered the body, which was sent to Victoria hospital for post-mortem. The sump was later cleaned by the officials.

Further investigation in the case will follow, police added
