
Murder mystery cracked, auto driver arrested

Bommanahalli police have cracked the murder of a woman last week, and arrested an autorickshaw driver in this connection.
The accused, Imran, 28, a resident of Anjanapura allegedly killed the woman using a boulder and fled with her mobile phone and cash. The police reportedly found Imran’s s h o e s which he had left at the spot while fleeing. A senior police official from Bommanahalli who was a part of the investigation team, said that Imran was an autorickshaw driver and late at night on August 10, a woman near JP Nagar hailed his auto.
The woman asked him to drop her near Bommanahalli. During the investigation, it was found that the woman was a sex worker. While on the way, she asked Imran to stop and bought liquor and street food near Madiwala Lake. “The accused thought that the woman was carrying a huge amount of cash in her purse and plotted to steal it,” the police said.
He took the woman near the lake and attempted to snatch her purse. When she resisted, he pushed her to the ground and smashed her head with a stone lying nearby, and fled with her purse. It was later found that the purse contained a mobile phone and Rs 3,500 in cash, sources said. The next day around 6:30 am in the morning, the local residents found the body and informed the police.
FSL experts’ help sought
As the deceased woman’s head was crushed beyond identification, the police took the help of the experts from FSL.
A computer generated image of the woman’s face was developed and shared with all the city police stations. The police got in touch with her husband. The mobile number of the deceased was checked and traced. The police traced the phone and nabbed Imran.
He later confessed to the crime.
