Two city-based lovers end lives in Davanagere

Two city-based lovers allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a lake in Benkikere village of Channagiri taluk in Davanagere.

The deceased were identified as Nagaratna, 21, and Charan, 22. Police sources said the woman was married to a man named Prasanna, who had registered a missing complaint at Rajagopala Nagar police station two days before the incident came to light.

 Davanagere Superintendent of Police C.B. Rishyanth said that as per the investigation the woman was married but fell in love with a youth named Charan. “Both wanted to marry despite the strong objection from their respective families. Depressed about it, they decided to commit suicide by jumping into the lake here,” he said.

Some locals witnessed the two dead bodies floating in the lake and immediately alerted the town police. After recovering the bodies, the police had questioned the locals who stated that they had seen them early morning.

According to Bengaluru police, Charan was an employee of a private firm while Nagaratna was working at an Aadhaar Centre
