Even as the Congress Party gears to face the 2023 Assembly polls, two former MPs and one ex-MLC have resigned from the primary membership of the party.
A former MP from Tumakuru, S.P. Muddahanumegowda and for mer Mandya MP L.R.Shivarame gowda have resigned from the Congress. Even, former Congress MLC, M.D.Lakshiminarayana has announced his decision to quit the Congress and join BJP. Lakshminarayana was close to former CM B.S.Yediyurappa but they later fell apart. He was given a ticket in the 2018 Assembly election but lost.
The resignation of Muddahanumegowda is not surprising since he had maintained a distance from the party ever since he was asked not to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Tumakuru in order to accommodate former PM, H.D.Deve Gowda.
