Demolition continues in city, Bagmane Tech Park surveyed for encroachments

As encroachments on Bengaluru’s Rajakaluves continue to be cleared by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, land and structures belonging to Central and State government undertakings were also taken into possession by the civic body for blocking the drains. On Wednesday the BBMP said in a statement that it cleared a 120-square-metre area belonging to the Railways in Subhash Nagar (near City Rail[1]way Station). On Tuesday, encroachment on a 120-metre stretch of a Rajakaluve by the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in GKVK Campus was cleared. The institute’s compound wall was reportedly taken down by a JCB. In Challaghatta’s Nalapad Academy, concrete slabs have been installed on a 150-metre stretch of the stormwater drain. Of this, the BBMP removed slabs on a 90-metre stretch on Wednesday. A 600-metre-long stretch of rajakaluve is being cleared of encroachments in Horamavu of KR Puram Assembly Constituency. In Munnekolala of Mahadevapura zone, a vacant plot was taken into possession. Apart from this, a 120-squaremetre vacant land was also taken into possession by the BBMP in Subhash Nagar. In the BBMP’s Yelahanka zone, a total of two encroach[1]ments (on four survey numbers) were cleared on Wednesday. This includes a 200-metre long and 2.4-metre wide Rajakaluve connecting the Singapura and Abbigere lakes. A juice factory in Singapura was found to have encroached on a 65-metre long and 21-metre wide stretch that was supposed to be part of a stormwater drain. The BBMP has reportedly started the process of recovering the area and instructed the factory’s owners to clear the encroachments which include a transformer and factory goods. According to the BBMP, a survey was undertaken at the Rajakaluve joining the Garu[1]dacharpalya and Mahadevapura lakes by officials of the Land Survey Department and the civic body along with the Tahsildar. This area includes Purva Parkridge Apartments and Bagmane Tech Park where compound walls,concrete covering slabs and roads were found on the stormwater drain.
