Shock as molested woman dies at hospital in Belagavi

In a heart-wrenching incident, an employee of a Bengaluru based-call centre died on Thursday after she was sexually assaulted in a moving bus enroute to Belagavi on October 11. According to Belagavi ACP, NV Baramani, the woman had returned to the city from Goa and boarded a private bus for her hometown Tuesday night.

The police said the woman had reportedly switched off her phone after informing her parents that she had boarded the bus. Following a probe, the police suspect she might have been attacked after the bus crossed Hubballi when other passengers got down.

The driver took a service road instead of the Pune- Bengaluru National Highway, police said. A friend got her admitted to hospital but she died on Thursday
