
Conman held for ATM card fraud

Chikkaballapur police have arrested a conman, N Sagar, 29, a resident of Hudco Colony in Bhadravathi on charges of cheating the public near ATMs and for siphoning off money from their accounts.
According to DL Nagesh, SP Chikkaballapur, there were reports that a suspicious person was moving around the Canara Bank ATM at Nayanahalli in Chikkaballapur. The police took the person into custody and during interrogation, he confessed to having committed the crime.
Sagar would roam around ATMs, offer help to the gullible public in operating ATMs and would steal their ATM card and note their PIN. While pretending to assist them, he would hand over similar fake ATM cards to them and would hold back the original ATM card and later use them to siphon off amounts.
The accused is facing charges of siphoning money from accounts of the general public at places such as Shivamogga, Yadagir, KR Nagar, Kunigal and cases are pending in various courts. Similarly many cases are pending at police stations in Gauribidanur, Gubbi, Sira and Iajur in connection with cheating the general public. The police have seized from him cash of nearly 1.50 lakh and ATM cards of various banks and are further investigating.
