BU curbs on meeting VC angers students

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru University (BU) has issued a circular curbing the students from directly reaching out to the vice-chancellor or registrar to air their grievances. The move has upset the students and it has sparked protests.

"It has been observed that students, including research scholars and those staying at the university hostels, come to meet the vice-chancellor and registrar directly. These kinds of visits without prior permission are a violation of protocol and hereafter students have to submit their grievances to the head of the respective departments,” the circular released on October 16 said.

The circular further directs the students to meet the VC and registrar only with an appointment taken during the office hours. The students of the university have been angered with the move.
