BBMP chief takes stock of potholes dotting the city roads

Bengaluru: On a day when a woman injured herself near Lulu Mall in an accident, allegedly due to a pothole, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath conducted a joint inspection of civic projects in the east zone, which included the fixing of poor roads.

Girinath and his 11-member task force took stock of the road from the Hennur flyover towards Lingarajapuram and directed the officers to cover up the potholes. He also asked them to make sure that there was no waste dumping under the Lingarajpuram flyover.

He also inspected the road under the Kamanahalli flyover, which is prone to water logging. Other works included pruning of obstructive tree branches and removal of encroachments on the footpaths.

The inspections come in the backdrop of the Karnataka High Court pulling up the civic body earlier in the month and even warning of punitive action for not filling potholes in BBMP limits.
