Poll tieup: Will decide by Sunday, says HDK

Former CM passes the buck to local JD(S) leaders, says they will decide on the tieup keeping in mind the 2023 Assembly polls

The Janata Dal (Secular) is still undecided on tying up with the BJP for the coming Legislative Council polls from the local bodies constituencies and will take a decision by Sunday, said former CM and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Talking to reporters in Kolar, he said it was true that BJP leaders have sought JD(S) support and it was also true that he had sought two day’s time to convey his decision. There was time and there was no need to hurry. “Our target is 123 seats in the 2023 elections. Local leaders will decide on the tieup keeping in view the 2023 Assembly elections. A decision on the tie-up will be taken on Saturday or Sunday”.

Kumaraswamy quipped that on the one hand, the BJP was seeking JD(S) support and on the other, it was trying to ‘finish off ’ the JD(S). There was competition among two political parties to eliminate the JD(S) but people are observing everything closely and will give a befitting reply in the next Assembly elections.

Taking a swipe at the BJP, he said the saffron party knows well how to win elections and had experts who knew how to do this by spending money looted from the government treasury. They assume that this formula will work all the time. But the time has come for people to take action against those winning elections distributing money, he said. Kumaraswamy did not forget to lash out at Opposition leader Siddaramaiah too saying those who dub the JD(S) the ‘B’ team of the BJP, should know that they had come to his doorsteps begging to form the government. It is left to the people of Karnataka to take suitable action against the behaviour of Congress leaders, he added.
