Bengaluru: Kannada Bigg Boss reality show contestant and actor Kirik Keerthi was attacked by a drunken man at a reputed pub in Sadashivanagar area late Thursday night. The actor had gone to the pub with his friends to have dinner.
The pub was crowded and one of the customers took a picture of the actor, but he was upset as his prior permission was not taken. This led to a heated argument, followed by a scuffle during which the accused is alleged to have taken an empty liquor bottle and hit the actor’s head. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
“The two got into a verbal duel. The accused reportedly told the actor that fame has gone to his head and he does not know how to behave in public. While a heated exchange of words was on, the accused attacked the actor with an empty beer bottle,” said a probing officer.
As it was a medico legal case, the hospital reported the matter to the police who have recorded the Keerthi’s statement. The police are going through the CCTV footage of the pub to get more clues about the accused. Keerthi had landed in such public spat in the past.
In 2018, he was attacked by a group of bikers over a trivial row. In 2010, Keerthi was attacked on the Jnanabharathi campus. While returning from Mysuru, the actor took the Jnanabharathi University road near Nagarbhavi. On the way, he saw a bike blocking the road. Keerthi started honking to draw the attention of the biker to take it to the side. The two men, who were under the influence of alcohol, had attacked Keerthi and his friend Manjunath. Passersby who came to his rescue, nabbed the two accused and handed them to the police.
