Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has quashed a criminal case filed against two Youth Congress leaders in connection with the PAY’CM’ poster issue targeting the ruling BJP.

The Congress had targeted Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai with posters alleging corruption rampant in his government. As part of the campaign, posters with his image and PAY’CM’, a reference to a popular payments app, were pasted on public walls last month.

The HC has now quashed the case in this regard filed against Narayana Gowda JS and Ramakrishna V. The two were charged under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Karnataka Open Places Disfigurement Act as well as the Indian Penal Code.

Narayan is an advocate and president of the Indian Youth Congress, Nelamangala while Ramakrishna, also an advocate, is president of the legal cell of the Congress in Nelamangala.
