
BV Sreekantan rememberance event at BIC

Bengaluru: Dhanvantari Arogyashram Trust is organising an event to remember eminent scientist, B.V. Sreekantan on October 29. The name of the event is ‘From Cosmic-Rays to Consciousness’.
B.V. Sreekantan (1925-2019) was a scientist whose career spanned the seven decades of post-independence India. For the first four decades he worked on Elementary Particle Physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai and then for the next three, at the National Institute of Advanced Study (NIAS) his interest shifted to the study of Consciousness.
He was one of the founding members of NIAS, and was one of its most distinguished faculty, contributing enormously and innovatively to its research and teaching programmes, ever since he joined the Institute in 1992.
There will be a screening of a documentary, which was commissioned by NIAS. It covers the life of B.V. Sreekantan. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Prof. Ramanath Cowsik, Prof. Sunil Gupta, Prof. Sisir Roy, Prof. Anindya Sinha and Prof. Palahalli (P.R.) Vishwanath. A question and answer with the audience will follow after the speakers have spoken.
