Ex-army officer collapses and dies while jogging

Bengaluru: An ex-army man died after collapsing while jogging inside the BEL Ground near Jalahalli in the city on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Singh Rawat, 40, a native of Uttarakhand, by the jurisdictional police.

It was revealed that Rawat was residing near Dodda Bommasandra and had been seeking employment after resigning from the Indian Army. Police said that the incident occurred around 8.30 am while Rawat was into the third lap after finishing two rounds of the ground.

As he collapsed on the ground, fellow joggers noticed it and rushed him to the nearby BEL Hospital where doctors examined and declared him dead. A massive cardiac arrest is supposed to have resulted in his death.

The Jalahalli police have registered a case regarding the incident and the body has been kept at the BEL Hospital for the relatives to claim.
