CID seeks suspension of teachers arrested in recruitment scam

Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials probing the high school teacher’s recruitment scam in Karnataka have sought the suspension and appropriate action against the 38 teachers who were recently arrested during the raids in connection with the scam.

The arrests were made following a raid by the CID which was carried out at 51 places in four districts including Bengaluru South on October 19. Earlier, the CID had arrested two senior officials from the Department of School Education and Literacy, among four others.

Based on a complaint filed by the Department of Public Instruction at Vidhana Soudha police station alleging irregularities in the recruitments of 2012–13 and 2014–15, the CID officers raided the teachers allegedly involved in the scam here.

An FIR was also registered at Halasuru Gate police station in connection with the recruitment scam.After eight days of the arrests, the CID has written to the state government seeking suspension of the arrested teachers.
