Bengaluru: An audio clip has been making the rounds which is allegedly claimed to be a conversation between two police officers in the city. According to the clip, an Inspector of Police (Law and Order) attached to the Airport police station threatens an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI- Traffic) for allegedly intercepting a car that had an unpaid challan of Rs 41,500.

According to sources, an incident took place on the night of October 26 when ASI Venkatesh attached to Chikkajala traffic police station, intercepted a car on the highway. As there was an unpaid challan of Rs 41500 on the vehicle, the ASI insisted the car driver clear the dues.

However, the driver allegedly began arguing with the ASI who refused to leave his car. The driver called up Muthuraj, Inspector of Police, from Airport police station, complaining to him about ASI Venkatesh. Later, when the driver allegedly handed over his mobile phone to Venkatesh, the ASI refused to speak to the inspector.

Enraged by this, the inspector started shouting at the ASI for not recognising him. In the audio clip, the inspector can be heard talking rudely and threatening the ASI swearing to teach him a lesson. However, after trying hard to apologize for a while, the ASI can be heard losing his cool and objecting to the inspector’s threat, claiming that he has been doing his duty and he won’t leave the car no matter what.

The audio clip, which was shared across social media platforms, received huge criticism and outrage from netizens demanding a probe into the incident and strict action against the inspector for threatening and harassing an on-duty ASI, attached to the traffic department, who seemed to be doing his job.

So far, there has been no response from the police department to the incident. As per the sources, an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the authenticity of the audio clip. The audio clip came to light just after the death of the suspended Circle Inspector of KR Puram, Nandish, on Thursday
