Youth stabs friend over petty quarrel, gets arrested within hours

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old person died after he was allegedly attacked by his friend with a knife over a trivial issue near Pillaganahalli in the city on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Shafeer Ahmed, working at a welding shop in Konanakunte, sources said.

The accused was later identified by the police as Wajid. Speaking to News Trail, the jurisdictional police said that the incident took place around 10 pm when Shafeer and Wajid were returning to their house. It is speculated that the duo had an argument over a petty issue, following which they started abusing each other.

During the fight, Shafeer picked up a stone and threw it at Wajid causing an injury to his head. Enraged, Wajid pulled out a knife and stabbed Shafeer in his stomach before fleeing from the spot. An inspection was carried out by Konanakunte police following the incident.

Shafeer was rushed to a private hospital but, he died without responding to the treatment. Launching a probe, the police identified and nabbed the accused. Currently, the accused is being interrogated, police said.
