Mysuru: The death of a police inspector in Bengaluru is making news for all the wrong reasons. Training his guns on the state BJP government, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Monday (Oct 31) asked Home Minister Araga Jnanendra to resign on moral grounds. He was reacting to HL Nandish’s death which he says was due to mental stress.

He said, “Minister M T B Nagaraj has gone on record in a 19-second video clip that the deceased died of a heart attack after allegedly paying Rs 80 lakh for his transfer. It is learnt that Nandish borrowed money from different sources for his transfer. He died due to pressure. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai or Jnanendra should take the responsibility for the inspector’s death and quit. The deceased must have paid the money to one of the top ministers in the state cabinet. This reflects badly on the state of affairs in Karnataka.”

On contractor Basavaraj Amargol writing to President Droupadi Murmu for mercy killing, Siddaramaiah said, “He had supplied goods to Chikkamagaluru, Moodigere and Kadur at the behest of central and state governments. His bills are pending for more than two years. He has met all the concerned officials and ministers but to no avail.

Nandish has alleged that there is a demand for 25% commission on the pending bills which he can’t afford. This is a corrupt government to say the least.” The Congress leader said, “Bommai is scared of me and this is one of the reasons he targets me whenever he gets a chance. This is nothing but RSS strategy.”

On the alleged gifts to some journalists, Siddaramaiah said, “The government wants to keep them silent so that they don’t write anything against them. These BJP leaders are shameless.’’ NT Correspondent Bengaluru Bowing to pressure from various sections, the state government has decided to teach lessons of seven writers including noted litterateurs Devanur Mahadev and G.Ramakrishna to students only for the current academic year (2022-23).

With this, the BJP government has decided to avoid any kind of controversy keeping in view the coming Assembly elections and to stall brickbats from the opposition Congress Party, Leftists and liberals. On Saturday, the Department of Education withdrew a circular issued on September 23 with regard to the axing of lessons
