
Wet spell to last till Sunday, yellow alerts issued

Bengaluru: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that the city and parts of South Karnataka would continue to receive rainfall under the influence of North East Monsoon (NEM) till Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban even receiving a yellow alert for Thursday.
The other seven districts that have been issued a yellow alert are Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru and Ramangara. IMD added that there had been rainfall amounting to 3.4 mm in the city from 8:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening on Wednesday.
Moreover, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) airport area received 1.8 mm of rain in the same time period. The minimum temperature has dipped to 18.8 degrees Celsius in the state. Weather systems have also been adding to the rains in the region.
“A Cyclonic circulation lies over Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood and a trough runs from this system to North Interior Karnataka in lower & middle tropospheric levels,” IMD said.
