Member of Mongolian delegation tests positive, Omicron test likely

Patna: Amid Omicron scare, a member of a Mongolian delegation, who recently visited Bodh Gaya, the most revered place for Buddhists, has tested positive for Corona virus infection.
After he tested positive for Covid-19, the member has been admitted to the isolation ward of Gayabased Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMH). Doctors are also considering sending his samples to a laboratory for Omicron test as the test facility is not available at the hospital, sources informed.
After members of the delegation landed at Gaya International Airport, RTPCR tests were performed for all members of the delegation. Gaya district magistrate Abhishek Singh, chairman of Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC), said that the infected person, being treated under the supervision of doctors, will be in isolation for 10 days.
The other members of the delegation left for New Delhi by a special aircraft late evening on Friday. The 23-member delegation was led by Chairman of State Great Khural of Mongolia, Gombojav Zandanshatar. At least 20 other locals with whom the member is believed to have come into contact during the two-day stay in the holy city have also undergone RT-PCR tests, a doctor informed on the condition of anonymity. T he dele g ation had reached Bodh Gaya last Thursday and visited Mahabodhi Temple, Mongolian Monastery, and the Dungeshwari hills where Lord Buddha had meditated for seven years before attaining enlightenment.
