Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old girl collapsed and died after she was allegedly punished by her teacher at a private school near Ramachandrapura in the city. The deceased was identified as Nishita, a fourthgrade student of RD International School.
The Gangamma Gudi police have taken up a case regarding the incident. The incident reportedly took place on Friday around 1:30 pm, the police said. The student’s grandmother, Narasamma, alleged that Nishita was alright when she met her a few minutes before being beaten up by her teacher.
Speaking to News Trail, an officer from the jurisdictional police station said that they had scanned the CCTV cameras around the school premises which showed that Nishita had met her grandmother and younger brother outside the school gate, probably, during the lunch break, and returned to her class around 1:20 pm.
Further, the cops scanning the footage found that around 1:50 pm a school official was carrying the collapsed student in his arms to the hospital. Following information about the incident, Nishita’s family rushed to Ramaiah Hospital where she was being taken.
However she was declared ‘brought dead.’ A complaint citing a suspicious death was filed by Nishita’s father based on which an FIR has been registered under section 174(c) of the CrPC. Further investigation is on. Last week, Nishita had allegedly suffered an injury on her forehead after a teacher beat her. The family of the student had met the school authorities and had asked them not to punish her.
