FDA official caught red-handed accepting bribe

Bengaluru: In yet another crackdown, the Lokayukta officials caught a First Division Assistant (FDA) attached to the Food Safety Department, red-handed while accepting a bribe at his office near KR Circle in the city on Monday.
According to sources, the Lokayukta had received a complaint that the FDA Shashi Kumar had allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from a contractor. He had allegedly asked for 10 percent of the payment of Rs 5 lakh that was made to the contractor.
It is alleged that Kumar told the contractor that the money was to be paid to the administrator of the Deputy Commissioner of the department as a bribe. Further investigation is underway
