Mysuru: The Mysuru cops have cracked the sensational murder of a retired officer of the Central Intelligence Bureau, R.S.Kulkarni, which was executed at the sprawling Manasagangotri campus of University of Mysuru last week.

On November 4, Kulkarni, 83, who had settled down in Mysuru after retirement, was knocked down by a car without a registration plate on a road adjacent to the Department of Computer Sciences at the varsity. The CCTV footage showed the retired officer beng knocked down deliberately.

Kulkarni's son-in-law, who is settled in the US, told the cops about the neighbour's threat to kill him. Police sources said Manu, son of Madappa, and Arun had visited the spot where they wanted to execute the plot, on a two-wheeler, which too was captured in the CCTV and proved useful in cracking the case.

There was pressure on the State Home Department after the video on the death of the decorated officer whose book on Jammu and Kashmir was released a few months ago by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, went viral.
