Actor Lohitashwa dies aged 80

Bengaluru: Octogenarian and popular actor Lohitashwa died around 2:30 pm in Bengaluru on Tuesday after a long hosipitalisation. The actor had suffered a heart attack and developed brain-related complications.

His son Sharath Lohitashwa told mediapersons that his father’s mortal remains would be shifted to his native village Thondagere in Tumakuru district, where last rites will be performed by Wednesday evening. Until then fans, friends and extended family members could pay their respects at the actor’s Kumaraswamy Layout residence.

Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy condoled the death of the actor via Twitter. “I was very saddened to hear about the demise of the one of the best Kannada actors Lohitashwa. He was also a dramatist who added flair to the characters he portrayed.

He enlightened many in his role as a professor. May his soul rest in peace and may God give his family the strength to bear this grief,” he tweeted.
