Pedestrian run over near Kalyan Nagar

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old pedestrian died after he was run over by a mini-truck near Kalyan Nagar in the city on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Bapi Kumar, an employee of a private firm in the city.

An official from Banaswadi traffic police station told News Trail that the incident took place around 11:10 pm when the youth was crossing the Hebbal Outer Ring Road (ORR). A speeding canter heading towards KR Puram from Hebbal allegedly knocked him down. As the youth fell on the road, the truck’s rear wheels ran over him and sped away.

He was rushed to a private hospital, but died around 11:50 pm without responding to the treatment, sources said. The local residents expressed anger against the authorities and police for the lack of pedestrian safety.
