Sly Granny puts unlikely people together for a special dinner

Bengaluru: When you go out to dinner, you usually go with friends and loved ones or sometimes grab a bite alone. But have you ever had dinner with strangers you have never met before? That’s exactly what was in store at Sly Granny this week where an interesting group of people was called together that included a techie, CEO of a company, an event manager, and a few influencers as the chef tested out new items that weren’t yet on the menu.
Not knowing what’s coming was the theme of the evening as signature cocktails were served along with the first course of Poached Crab Tortellini and Hot Pinacolada for vegetarians. There was a live salad counter where patrons could watch the Caesar Salad being made in front of them or choose to have a Beetroot Carpaccio.
The main course was a choice between Sundried Tomato, Ricotta, and Hazelnut Stuffed Chicken Leg with Lyonnaise potato and pan juss or Yam Gnocchi with crispy kale. But the highlight of the evening was the conversations with strangers over cocktails which ranged from organizing events abroad, working with UNICEF, and stories of old Bangalore.
One of the patrons recounted a time when she visited Karwar in the 1950s when Goa was still Portuguese territory and you required a passport to visit what has become a favoured holiday destination for Indians in recent times.
By the time the dessert consisting of Sago and Musk melon panna cotta with pumpkin ganache macaron was served, people who were strangers a few hours ago had become fast friends, making plans to meet again having shared a wonderful experience that will stay with them for a while.
