Tumakuru / Bengaluru: The JD(S) welcomed several former BJP and Congress leaders from Sira Assembly constituency in Tumakuru district on Sunday. This included former Tumakuru Gram Panchayat president Kalkere Ravikumar, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) director SR Gowda, Sudhakar Gowda, Viresh, Praveen and hundreds of workers from the constituency.
JD(S) legislature party leader HD Kumaraswamy, party state president CM Ibrahim, MLC KN Tippeswamy and others welcomed the new members to the party fold at the JD(S) office at JP Bhavan in Bengaluru. Kumaraswamy clarified that they had all been JD(S) members at one point, but had defected to the Congress and BJP.
“They have returned home,” he said. “JD(S) will win all Assembly constituencies in Tumakuru, including Sira. There is no doubt about it,” he added. The former chief minister said that the party should honour the memory of late MLA B Satyanarayana, who was from Tumakuru and try to bag as many seats as possible in the district. “We should honour Satyanarayana by organizing the party and ensuring our candidates’ victory,” Kumaraswamy said.
