Class 10 student hangs herself after being chided by teacher

Bengaluru: After reports of two students committing suicide last week, another class ten student was reportedly found hanging int a room inside her house near Kasthuri Nagar in the city on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Amrutha, a student of Mariam Nilaya School at Banaswadi here.

According to sources, the student was studying in the same school since her Lower Kindergarten. The incident reportedly came to light on Sunday evening with the parents later registering a case against one of the teachers of the school.

During the spot inspection, the police recovered a death note allegedly written by the student before committing suicide. In the letter, the student accused one of her teachers of scolding her for copying during a class test. "Mom and Dad, please forgive me, I love you both. But I cannot forget the incident that happened in the school," Amrutha's letter read.

It was alleged that the student was in depression after the school teacher, Shalini, chided her for copying, in front of the class.Following Amrutha's death, the parents carried her body inside the school premises and protested against the school authorities alleging murder. Jayaprakash P soon arrived at the spot and consoled Amrutha's parents and assured necessary action. Speaking to the media, the school principal Irene, expressed shock and grief at the student's death. "This is very unfortunate. I had spoken to the student and the teacher earlier and the teacher had advised Amrutha not to copy in the test next time," the principal said.
