Bengaluru:

A team of police on patrolling duty arrested a person on charges of sexual assault on a minor by forcefully taking her to an isolated area on the outskirts of the city. The accused was identified as Venugopal, 22, a resident of Talaghattapura who resided close by to the victim’s house. It was revealed that both families hailed from Yadgir district and were working here as daily wage labourers.

Reportedly, around 3:30 am on Monday when the Hoysala night-beat cops were patrolling the deserted area, they noticed a man along with a minor walking suspiciously. The police interrogated them and failing to get a relevant reply, took them to the Talaghattapura police station. Later, based on the complaint registered by the parents of the minor, the police arrested the accused under the POCSO Act and are further investigating the matter.
