BBMP extends deadline on pothole filling

Bengaluru:
The BBMP has set a new deadline to fill potholes across the city after consistently missing its previous ones. The city municipal body’s Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath has said that the pothole-related works will be completed by Saturday, November 19. “By Saturday, the work will be completed.
From Wednesday evening, officials will begin to start declaring pothole-free zones in the city,” the commissioner told media personnel. Priorly, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had moved its set deadline from November 11 to November 14 due to the showers. The work had accelerated during the time PM Narendra Modi visited the city to inaugurate various projects.
Girinath has said that close to 32,000 potholes have been filled so far. “We have identified over 33,000 potholes within the city limits, and only a thousand are pending to be filled now. We will need two clear days to wrap up the work and hence have pushed the deadline further,” he explained.
