
JD(S) Pancharatna Yatra to restart today

The JD(S) on Thursday announced that they would resume their ‘Pancharatna Yatra’ from Mulabagilu town in Kolar district on Friday.The JD(S) programme was slated to begin on November 2 in the same venue, but had been postponed due to heavy rains. The Pancharatna refers to the five election promises of the JD(S): free education, free health care, free housing, addressing of farmers issues, and guaranteed employment for at least one member of the household.
The JD(S) legislature party chief HD Kumaraswamy said that the programme would begin from the Kurudumale Ganesha temple. As is his custom, the former chief minister will seek blessings from the deity Chamundeshwari at the famous temple outside Mysuru city. Kumaraswamy plans on staying at a government school or temple during his stay at Mittur village in the district so as better understand the commoner’s struggle. JD(S) plans on covering some 120 Assembly constituencies under the programme by March. Elections are due in May
